‘Microbiomes and Metagenomes’ workshop on the 3rd-4th March 2015 at The Shard, London hosted in Warwick Business School’s new London premises. This is an exciting opportunity for academia and industry to meet and explore the possibilities meta-omic techniques offer when exploring the human, animal and plant microbiomes. Please publicise this workshop to anyone you think may be interested. There is a Microbiomes and Metagenomes poster to display and share and please do not hesitate to contact me for more information or to register by emailing E.R.Travis@warwick.ac.uk.
The aim of the meeting is to focus on microbiomes, as well as to enable discussions and collaborations between academia and industry. The format of the workshop will be based around three sessions to represent human (3rd March), animal (4th March) and plant (4th March) microbiomes. This is an opportunity to showcase what is happening is the field of meta-omics and to develop successful collaborations between academia and industry. The plan for the workshop is to have coffee and registration between 10 -10.30 on the Tuesday to allow people to arrive. There will be a welcome and keynote speaker talk before lunch. In the afternoon there will be talks on human microbiomics followed by break out groups. The sessions on the 4th will have a similar format, with talks on animal microbiomes and break out groups in the morning, followed by talks and break out groups on plant microbiomes in the afternoon to finish at 5pm. Talks will be 15 minutes with 5 minutes questions, the idea being to give a flavour of the speaker’s interests and promote interactions and discussion. A poster session is also planned. Registration and refreshments are free.
